FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where are you from?

I grew up in North Carolina.

Did you go to school for art?
Yes. I recieved my BFA from East Carolina University.

What’s your mission, Convert the Wack all about?
It was a campaign that I came up with just to get the name out there. I came up with this “Convert the Wack” sign and had people take pictures with it. The thing is, you’re going out there and trying to change all the people that are corny, and show them there’s a better way to live. It’s a tough gig, ya’ know, ’cause a lot of people don’t know how corny they are!

How long do your paintings take?
The usual painting can take from a few days to a few weeks. The most important part is the sketching and final drawing process which can take a while.

Do you do commissions?
Yes, but it depends on the project. Commissions that fit into the kind of work I do are great.  Every now and then I take on a project because its really cool or a challenge.

How did you start as an artist.
I am an artist and producer. My background is in urban illustration and design. I got started as an ad designer for a local newspaper then realized that wasn’t for me and quit. Then I moved on to web design. A year later the company tanked, but during that time I had a chance to build up my freelance career with clients looking for an “Urban” feel. After that, I started my own thing and have been rolling ever since.

Which artists has been an influence on your work or style?
I’m inspired by different attributes some artist possess. Norman Rockwell’s story telling ability, Maurice Evans colors. Kevin A. Williams’ way of drawing women, Sebastian Kruger’s various applications of techniques, Mucha’s sketchbook and the list goes on.
